ASSOC. PROF. DR. İSMAİL OLTULU

Dr. İsmail Oltulu completed his specialty training at Istanbul Kartal Training and Research Hospital's Orthopedics and Traumatology department between 2005-2010. During his specialization period, he showed a special interest in spine surgery and served as an observer at the Florence Nightingale Spine Surgery Department in 2007. Additionally, over more than 15 years, he has attended numerous national and international conferences, courses as an instructor, participant, and invited speaker related to spine surgery. He has performed spine surgeries in many countries abroad.

In 2016, he was selected as a research doctor in spine surgery by the Turkish Spine Society and worked as an observer and research doctor at the University of California San Francisco Spine Center with Dr. Vedat Deviren. During this period, he conducted scientific studies with Dr. Deviren and his team.

He started working at Memorial Hospital in 2021 and established the Spine Surgery Center in 2023. Dr. Oltulu's areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, adult and pediatric spine deformities, spine tumors, degenerative diseases of the spine, lumbar, cervical, and thoracic disc herniations, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, spinal fractures, spinal infections, rheumatic diseases of the spine (ankylosing spondylitis, diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (Forestier's disease), rheumatoid arthritis, etc.), congenital spinal problems, and neuromuscular and syndromic spinal diseases.

Dr. Oltulu also successfully performs surgeries for severe and neglected scoliosis and kyphosis, new-generation scoliosis treatments, minimally invasive surgeries such as OLIF and XLIF for adult patients, minimally invasive spinal reconstruction surgeries, microscopic lumbar, cervical, and thoracic disc herniation surgeries, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for spinal fractures in elderly patients. Additionally, revision surgeries for spinal deformities that develop after failed back surgeries are among his special areas of interest.
